On the occasion of Milan Design Week, Sunbrella® will be presenting an artistic installation called ‘Connexions’ by French photographer and artist Charles Pétillon at Super Studio Design from April 4th to 9th, 2017.
The artist’s installation consists of a surprising and unique inflatable structure, all interconnected and covered in the latest Sunbrella® fabrics. The structure was transported and photographed in various different indoor and outdoor spaces, to contextualise and magnify Sunbrella’s® textiles.
The installation, over 4.20 metres tall, is made up of 10 majestic balloons linked together and covered with the latest Sunbrella® textiles. The project is accompanied by a series of artistic and poetic photographs depicting this structure in interior and exterior environments.
As part of the Super Studio Design, Sunbrella® invites its visitors to enter into a black cube where the installation and photographs are backlit. Plunged into the dark, the public connects directly with the installation, circulating feely around it while observing the photographs on the walls.
Following their success at the latest edition of Milan Design Week, Sunbrella® will showcase the artistic installation ‘Connexions’ by French photographer and artist Charles Pétillon at Maison & Objet in Paris.
Sunbrella® is also launching a website dedicated to this installation, where each individual can create their own ‘connexion’. From a smartphone or computer, the user simply has to choose a location in which to place the structure. The image is generated in Google Street View and sent by email to the user who can then publish it on social media.
Halfway between reality and virtuality, this digital animation corresponds to Charles Pétillon’s concept and allows participants to create fictional images for a real-life work.
